On the morning of December 9, the First Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in Agriculture was unveiled in Sanya, Hainan Province. The Forum was jointly organized by Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and Hainan People’s Government, co-organized by China Agricultural University and Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA). With the theme "Jointly Create Sustainable Development of Agriculture, Jointly Build New Closer China-Africa Cooperation in Agriculture", the forum aimed at implementing the agricultural achievements stated in the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Beijing Action Plan (2019-2021) published in Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in September 2018. Delegations of 6 member universities led by leaderships participated in the forum.
In addition to the main forum, the Sub-forum on China-Africa Cooperation in Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation, undertaken by China Agricultural University and co-organized by BRSSCAL, was held on the afternoon of December 9. The signing of memorandums between two BRSSCAL programs (namely, Simple Technology, Big Harvest; and Science and Technology Backyard Program) between multiple Chinese and African institutions, brought a new height in China-Africa agricultural cooperation. In the trilateral sub-forum, the two BRSSCAL programs became the highlight of discussions again, providing opportunity for members to conduct bilateral and multilateral talks with potential Chinese and African collaborators.
